Bookings

Bookings can be made online or by e-mail by sending a booking request to tickets@cemair.co.za. The following information is required to place a booking:

  • Full passenger name as per RSA Identity Document or Passport
  • RSA ID number or Passport number
  • Mobile number (including international dialling code if outside South Africa)

Payment policy

Payment is required within 3 days of a booking being made, should travel be in advance of 3 days from placing the booking

Immediate payment is required should travel be within 3 days of booking

Once a Tax Invoice has been issued a booking is considered confirmed and full payment of invoice required. Penalties will apply for cancellations and changes

Ticket Changes

CemAir offers a flexible rebooking facility up to 24 hours prior to your flight departure where you may transfer the full value of your fare paid to an alternate date subject to a rebooking fee per person per sector. If the same booking class is not available, you will also have to pay in any difference in airfare

A "No Show" penalty of 100% applies - Tickets will be forfeited in the event that a passenger does not show up for a flight

Departure Information

Departures from OR Tambo International Airport

Flights from OR Tambo International airport depart from domestic departures, Terminal B, counter numbers B141–B145. Please consult the display boards for any last minute changes.

Late arrivals cannot unfortunately be accommodated. Passengers are advised to read the information provided on travel documentation.

Departures from Bram Fischer International Airport Bloemfontein

Flights from Bloemfontein Airport depart from the main terminal building. Check-in counters open 90 minutes before the flight and close 30 minutes before the flight.

Luggage Allowance

Adults and children over 2 years are allowed 2 pieces of free checked luggage and hand luggage with a total weight of up to 21kg.

Passengers travelling with infants (0-24 months) will be allowed an additional 10kg for the infant.

Excess Luggage:

Luggage in excess of the above allowances is subject to an additional charge as well as space availability on a standby basis.

Domestic passengers will be charged R35.00 per kilogram for all luggage over the 21kg allowance.

Passengers flying on our regional routes (into Africa) will be allowed 30kgs luggage per person.

All passengers flying regionally from RSA (Outbound) on our flights will be charged R60.00 per kilogram over the 30kg weight allowance.

All passengers flying regionally into RSA (Inbound) on our flights will be charged USD6.00 per kilogram over the 30kg weight allowance.

All CemAir Interline partner passengers will be allowed their allocated allowance as per partner ticket provided their booking is on one ticket for both flights. If separate bookings are made for their CemAir flight and their international connecting flight, we will not allow the baggage allowance of the interline partner and the passenger will be liable for additional baggage charges.

Interline partners are as follows:

  • Qatar
  • Ethiopian Airlines
  • Emirates
  • Proflight
  • Egypt Air
  • Air Mozambique (LAM)
  • South African Airways (SAA)

All Interline partner passengers over the allowable weight as per partner ticket will be charged R60.00 per kilogram.

All domestic passengers connecting on international flights (Non-IET - passengers traveling on airlines that are not CemAir interline partners) will be allowed 21kgs and will be charged at R35.00 per kilogram over this allowance.

All international passengers connecting regionally will be allowed 30kgs and charged R60.00 per kilogram over the allowance.

Baggage taken on a standby basis will be accepted with the understanding that Cemair (Pty) Ltd is not liable for delays in the transportation of the baggage to its destination or costs incurred by passengers for the collection of “Standby” Baggage. Perishable items will not be accepted as standby baggage. Standby luggage is only loaded once the flight is closed and the Captain has given authorisation.

Any single bag weighing over 32kg will not be accepted and must be shipped separately or as cargo. Please contact our Reservations office for assistance.

To guarantee the carriage of excess baggage an extra seat must be purchased. This will provide the traveller with an additional 80kg baggage allowance. This may be arranged through our Reservations office or when you book online.

Sports Equipment, bicycles, fishing Gear, etc:

The transport of sports equipment is subject to a handling fee of R250.00 per flight. Please make arrangements with the Reservations office prior to your flight.

Lost Baggage Claims:

Written notice to the carrier must be made within 7 days of travel date.

It is prohibited to take any hazardous items such as, knives, guns, scissors or anything else that could pose a danger to safety, on board our aircraft.

In the interest of safety the aforementioned limitations will be strictly adhered to.

General Terms

  • It is the shared responsibility of the booking agent and passenger to ensure that directions to the point of departure, location of check-in counter(s), regulations pertaining to luggage and other matters relevant to the flight, are obtained and, if necessary, distributed timeously
  • Departure and arrival times cannot be guaranteed; in the event of unforeseen circumstances or unfavourable weather conditions either at the point of departure or at the intended destination, the sole discretion of the captain in command will apply
  • It is recommended that passengers allow at least two hours transit time if required to board a connecting flight
